Madison Core Labs is recruiting an Accessioning Clerk for its clinical laboratory located in Madison, Alabama.

This position is full time Monday through Friday shift 9:00 AM- 6:00 PM. You must be available to work these days and hours. Salary depends upon experience. Candidate must have at least one year experience accessioning specimens; one year of phlebotomy experience preferred. Exceptional data entry skills are required. Experience in the medical field and some medical terminology is a plus.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Sign-in and receive packages from FedEx and samples from Couriers.
  • Receive and properly identify samples and sites where tests are performed.
  • Sort samples according to protocol. Perform initial data entry in LIS. Prepare samples for send-outs to reference laboratories. Record discrepancies and communicating these errors to Supervisor and Client Services.
  • Recognize potential errors when matching bottles and computer entry.
  • Make client calls for routine and complex discrepancies for retrieving patient information.
  • Perform QA, and specimen container check.
  • Perform initial data entry using a computer to enter patient and client data following standard protocol.
  • Perform scanning and imaging for billing.
  • Participate in improving department efficiency, quality, and cooperation. Resolve routine and complex questions and problems.
  • Ensure all Company safety, quality control and quality assurance standards are met.
  • Ensure compliance with all local, federal, CLIA and CAP regulations.
  • Maintain a clean and well-organized work area.
  • Other duties, as assigned by supervisor.
